What this site knows about you, and about the players.

abroad.football has no accounts, no sign-up and no advertising. This page says what the site does hold, why, and who to write to.

Who runs it

abroad.football is an independent site, not affiliated with any football association, league or club. Questions about anything on this page go to hello@abroad.football.

What is kept about readers

One cookie, and only if you use it. Following a player stores the identifiers of the players you follow in a cookie called pa_favourites, on your own device, for a year. It holds nothing else, it is sent nowhere but back to this site, and unfollowing everyone or clearing your browser’s cookies removes it. No other cookie is set.

Like every website, the servers that answer you record the requests. The pages are served by Vercel and the data behind them by Fly.io; both keep standard access logs, including your IP address, for a limited time. The data service also counts requests per address one minute at a time, to protect itself from overload, and keeps nothing afterwards. None of this is used to identify you or combined with anything else.

No analytics script runs on this site.

Player photos, club crests and flags are loaded from API-Football’s image server, and an article’s photo from the publisher that ran it, so those servers see your IP address when a page shows one. Fonts are served by this site itself; nothing is loaded from Google.

What is published about players

The site reports on professional footballers in their public role: name, date of birth, position, photo, clubs, matches and the statistics a match produces. It comes from API-Football and public sources and is published in the interest of reporting on the sport, as any match report is. A player, or someone acting for them, who finds a fact wrong or wants something taken down can write to the address above; corrections and removals are made within a month.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask what personal data this site holds about you, have it corrected or erased, and complain to a supervisory authority — in Iceland, Persónuvernd. For a reader there is nothing to hand over beyond the cookie on your own device and short-lived server logs, but the address above is the place to ask all the same.
